Academic Program Admission and Continuation Policy

Admission Requirements Based on Entry Status

To declare into the Construction Management major, students must meet the following requirements based on their entry status.

Freshmen: Students must be eligible for MATH 1065, as determined by the ECU Department of Mathematics. Freshman with early college credit are exempt if they have eligible transfer credit for MATH 1065 or 1066.

Transfer students: Students must be eligible for MATH 1065, as determined by the ECU Department of Mathematics, or have transferred an approved equivalent to MATH 1065 or 1066 from their prior institution.

Technical degree transfer students: Students must have completed an Associate of Applied Science degree (AAS) in an approved technical field. Students must be eligible for MATH 1065, as determined by the ECU Department of Mathematics, or have transferred an approved equivalent to MATH 1065 or 1066 from their prior institution.

ECU transfer students (major changes): Current ECU students who wish to change their major to Construction Management must have a 2.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA). Students must be eligible for MATH 1065, as determined by the ECU Department of Mathematics, or have earned credit for MATH 1065 or 1066.

Second degree students: Students must have earned a bachelor level degree in another major discipline. Students must be eligible for MATH 1065, as determined by the ECU Department of Mathematics, or have transferred an approved equivalent to MATH 1065 or 1066 from their prior institution.

Retention and Continuation Policy

Only students holding a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher will be allowed to enroll in any CMGT courses.

Students found in violation of approved course enrollment will be immediately administratively dropped from CMGT courses.

Any student falling below a 2.0 cumulative GPA will be immediately placed on departmental probationary status and notified of this action by the department and/or academic advisor.

The probationary period is defined as one academic term (excluding summernsessions) during which time the student is required to raise their cumulative grade point average to at least 2.0 in order to remain in the construction management degree program.

Probationary students who successfully earn a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher at the end of the probationary period will be returned to good standing.

Probationary students who do not earn a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher at the end of the probationary period will be removed from the CMGT program.
