POSITION DESCRIPTION GUIDELINES

Program Description
The Peer Academic and Career Coaching Program will support students with their academic and career pursuits. This program will empower students through their career coaches, so that they can achieve their full potential. Matched coaches and student participants will come together to create goals and a career development plan that they will work towards. The program involves weekly structured meetings and monthly group sessions to encourage continuous progress and development. This will benefit participants by providing an experience that creates a culmination of knowledge, guidance, and support needed to navigate their personal, academic, and career paths successfully.

PEER COACH

Position Description
The Peer Academic and Career Coaching Program seeks coaches to guide students through their academic and career paths. Coaches will provide knowledge, guidance, and advice from their student perspective to help develop students with similar academic backgrounds. This position involves regularly meeting with student participants, organizing group meetings, and collaborating with other peer coaches to enhance the program experience. We are looking for individuals who would like to help others and assist them in reaching their potential.

Eligibility:

  • Be able to coach students for the Fall 2024 semester.
  • Be a student of the Computer Science department.
  • Be available to attend in-person meetings.
  • Have a minimum 3.0 cumulative ECU GPA by Fall 2024.
  • Complete and submit the Peer Academic and Career Coach Application.

Expectations:

  • Have individual weekly meetings with your student participants.
  • Have monthly group meetings with your student participants.
  • Expected to respond promptly to your student participants.
  • Create weekly meeting reports and make appropriate referrals to ECU resources.
  • Produce required deliverables.

STUDENT PARTICIPANT

  • Meet with your peer coach weekly and attend monthly group meetings.
  • Be open-minded and willing to learn.
  • Complete action items in a timely manner.
