Meet Academic Advisor Allison Winters
Name: Allison Beck Winters
Official title: Academic Advisor in the College of Engineering & Technology for BSIT (ICT and HIT concentrations)
Hometown: Asheboro, N.C.
Where did you work prior to coming to the College? I served as the Financial Counselor for ECU Physicians, Family Medicine Center, prior to coming to ECU CET.
What will you be doing for the College? I will be an academic advisor for the Industrial Technology AAS Transfer Program with the College of Engineering & Technology.
Why did you choose to come to ECU? I was drawn to this position at ECU because I have a true passion for working in the education field and fostering a sense of achievement. I look forward to working with students each day and being a resource for them as they pursue their academic and career goals. My passion has always been working with people and helping foster an environment of growth. Being able to work with students of varying degrees of development is a great use of my background and experiences, as I come from a social work background with my MSW from George Mason University. I am excited to begin my journey as a Pirate here at ECU!
What would people be surprised to learn about you? People would be surprised to learn that I lived in Africa after graduating college at UNC-Chapel Hill (do not hold that against me!), as I volunteered with an organization that traveled to a different location each week to encourage self-sustaining methods for agriculture and provide education resources.
